Affordable Old Money Cars

Classic cars have experienced a remarkable surge in value over the past decade, but there are still hidden gems waiting to be discovered. In this article we go through some of our suggestions, if you want to find the perfect old money car without breaking the bank. But remember, while it’s easy to find a cheap car, finding a classic car in great condition can be challenging. We recommend paying a bit more to find a decent one without rust or other major issues. Otherwise, you might end up spending more on repairs than it would have cost to buy decent example in the first place. That’s why, when you are buying a classic car, it’s important to spend your time finding the right one:

1. MG MGB

The MG MGB is a quintessential British roadster that embodies the spirit of classic motoring. MGB was sold both as a roadster and hardtop model. Its sleek lines, chrome accents, and open-top design make it a timeless design. The MGB’s lightweight construction and nimble handling make it a joy on winding country roads. Plus, the MGB community is passionate and welcoming, ensuring you’ll find camaraderie along the way (especially if you live in UK).
On average, you can find an MGB in good condition for around 10,000€ while the best conditioned GT models go over 20,000€

2. Triumph Spitfire & GT6

The Triumph Spitfire and its sibling, the GT6, are compact sports cars that exude charm. Inspired by the iconic Jaguar E-Type, the sleek lines and minimalist design capture the essence of British motoring. Its four-cylinder engine provides just enough power to put a smile on your face without overwhelming you. The GT6, on the other hand, boasts a fastback design, with hardtop and a six-cylinder engine, offering a more exhilarating ride. Both cars are affordable classics that allow you to experience old money charm without breaking the bank.
Expect to pay between a few thousand pounds for a project car to around 10,000€ for a well-maintained example of Spitfire. For the GT6, the numbers are almost doubled.

Many aristocrats, celebrities, and even royals have owned Mini Coopers, cementing their status as a timeless classic. The classic body shape was offered from late 50’s until the late 90’s with only minor modifications and facelifts. Because Mini was such a popular car, you should find plenty of options for sale. Behind the wheel, you’ll feel like you’re driving something more expensive. This is not a car you buy to impress your friends, but to impress yourself.
